Delacim was a mage of the Yalain Empire, and a student of Asheron's. He and his brother Gaerlan studied portal magic and other arts under Asheron's tutelage. Gaerlan was Delacim's junior by some twenty years, less skilled and even more headstrong.[1][2][3]

As an adept, Delacim arrived at Aerlinthe and opened fixed portals to Ithaenc, Haelan, Knorr, Nesortania, Elancia, Jalis, Aribel, Alastinae, Dernehale, Larchess, and the works at Seral Ipharsis and Lamihaar.[4]

Delacim was the far better student, Asheron set his hopes on his apprentice and possible successor.[1][5][6] Asheron appointed Delacim his chief assistant, placing him in charge of teaching the new Adepts[1] Delacim, now Asheron's sole apprentice and most talented student, created portals specifically for the storage and transport of cargo and parcels. After Asheron, not satisfied with portals just linking parts of his world, started working on creating portals between worlds[7], Delacim supervised some of the trips to the other worlds they discovered, such as Ispar and the moon world of Ezheret.[8][9] Asheron trusted Delacim with some of his most well-guarded secrets.[10]

Gaerlan once overheard a discussion between Delanim and Asheron, and so found out about the reason behind Asheron's prolonged life. Asheron was forced to keep Gaerlan on as a student, because Gaerlan used his connections to the Imperial throne and Nali Valind to blackmail Asheron.[11][3][12][1]

During an expedition to the Olthoi homeworld, Delacim was killed.[12][2][6] Gaerlan blamed Asheron for his brother's death and ever since, was looking for revenge.[3][2][13][12].
