Chapter 4: Armour

Society Armour fills the void between quest armour, with a set look, feel, and way of access, and loot-generated, with random stats and tinkability. To be specific, each piece of society armour you acquire will have random stats, workmanship, material, but will always look the same and have the Dedication Set on it meaning that it can be tinked, imbued, and even salvaged while always having the same look and being a part of the same set. The Dedication set has the following effects:

  • 2 pieces - Initiate's Blessing - +3 to all Attributes
  • 4 pieces - Adept's Blessing - +6 to all Attributes
  • 6 pieces - Knight's Blessing - +9 to all Attributes
  • 8 pieces - Lord's Blessing - +12 to all Attributes
  • 9 pieces - Master's Blessing - +15 to all Attributes

Each Blessing corresponds to the five ranks one can reach in a society. These cantrips stack with all other spells.

Acquiring a piece of this armour requires having a Society Armour Writ to hand into one of the 9 NPC's in the West wing of the stronghold in exchange for a key to the chest behind them housing two pieces of armour. It is important to note that:

  • Initiates can only obtain gloves or solleretes
  • Adepts can obtain tassets and greaves
  • Knights can obtain pauldrons and bracers
  • Lords can obtain breastplates and girths
  • Masters can obtain Helms.

Any rank can obtain pieces of a lower rank. This restriction also applies to wielding the armour. There are three ways to earn armour writs:

  1. Purchase Society Armor Writs from the Vendor in the East wing of your Stronghold. These cost 25 tokens and you can only turn in one every 20 hours. You gain Society Tokens by completing various quests for your society that I will go over in Chapter 5.
  2. Obtain an Ornate Society Armor Writ from the vendor at the Assassin's Roost. This writ costs 50 MMD's. You can only get one every 20 hours but there is no timer on turning it in (meaning it doesn't conflict with the normal writs). (Information getting there can be found here: http://perfectlight.aforumfree.com/comprehensive-guides-f1/assassin-s-roost-t96.htm#136)
  3. Obtain an Ornate Society Armor Writ from Pak Li-Shung inside the Black Market (at Freebooter Keep or Northwatch Keep) in exchange for 20 Exhumed Bones from the Graveyard. This writ can only be obtained every 20 hours but, like the one from the Assassin's Roost, has no timer on turning it in and will not conflict with any other writ you turn in. More information on getting to the Black Market in Chapter 8.

If you want to see what the armour looks like, the Promotions Officer in the South Wing wears it, as do Master Soldiers, Archers, Mages and Reinforcement Soldiers that you'll come across while completing various tasks. If for some reason you do not want an armour piece, you can simply hand it back in to the corresponding NPC in the West wing for 5 Society Tokens.
