The History of Auberean

By A Learned Sage

Welcome, welcome! So you're seeking information about Auberean, our new world? Good for you, good for you! So few who arrive take an interest in the world around them. They just strap on a sword and slay the first thing they lay their eyes on. So disappointing - always thumping their chests, boasting of their abilities. But not you, no, not you! I can't tell you how happy I am that you're not that sort!

Now, just between you and me, Auberean is so much more interesting than our old homeworld, Ispar. Tut tut! I know what you are going to say. Yes, I agree the tales of Rakhil al-Khur are interesting... Yes, yes, Queen Alfrega... Hmm, perhaps Emperor Kou... Actually when you consider... Hmm...

Eh? Oh, yes, Auberean. Fascinating world! Complex and intricate. Would you like to see my latest work on this world's history? I assembled it by piecing together all the various scraps of scrolls and texts left behind by the Empyreans.

The Empyreans? Well, they were the people here before us - but they all left a few hundred years ago. Except for Asheron. Yes, Asheron is one. Very tall people, those Empyreans, very distinctive eye color too - or so the texts say. They were as varied as we were, a people of many cultures, similar to us in many respects. And just like us, at times those cultures made war on one another. Supposedly they'll return someday, which has a few people worried. But don't you pay them any mind - they're just small minds reacting to things they don't understand.

So you'd like to look at my history text? Excellent! I hoped that at least a few newcomers would want to read it, so I've tried to present it in a way that isn't too intimidating! Don't want to scare away future lore scholars. No, that wouldn't do, not at all. To that end, I'm writing the history as a series of short volumes, something you can ponder at your own pace. As I finish them up, I'll send them your way. Impatient, are we? Well, you'll just have to wait and see...so much to research and write, but this should whet your appetite, at least.

I also commissioned an artist to create a diagram of this world's history. Take a look at the diagram before you read the texts. It'll give you some idea of the scope of the history you are about to read!

Aha! I can see in your eyes that you're already hooked. Enjoy, my friend; the history of this world is truly amazing.
