Talk:Shopkeeper NPC Template

I'm not a big fan of how the inventory is laid out, more specifically, how the prices are displayed, i.e. 1amc. Do you guys think we could have a section above the inventory that shows "currency", and then possibly a table below, similar to the XP rewards table, which shows "Items", "Price". This way we could just show the price without the currency next to it, keep everything in uniform line (throughout categories), and also allow for sorting. It may be overkill, but what do you guys think? I'll try to work up an example. --Atarax 12:22, 6 March 2009 (CST)

I feel the same, I think that would look better, though the sorting can be tricky.--Tlosk 15:59, 7 March 2009 (CST)

What if we did something like this: User:Atarax/Sandbox? I think it kind of keeps everything in order and mostly clean looking. Plus you get the benefit of the TOC, which works well when listing all the inventory categories. --Atarax 13:44, 9 March 2009 (CDT)

Looks great, I'll add it to the template. --Tlosk 16:57, 9 March 2009 (CDT)

Another Question.... If you look at the Aun Kerehanua page, how can I get alternate text in the name of the weapons he sells? Thanks! --Atarax 23:37, 11 March 2009 (CDT)

I need to do some thinking about how to handle alt names, I'm not sure how to do it at the moment but I'll figure something out. And just to clarify, you mean having an item and icon with a particular name but that will display a different name? Or an icon and item name that differ? Thanks. --Tlosk 05:48, 12 March 2009 (CDT)
It would look like this:
The Icon and the article are the same disambiguated name, but the article alias is just shortened to the actual in-game name. --Atarax 10:35, 12 March 2009 (CDT)
Any chance could replace the '''Caption Name''' with ===== Caption Name ===== in the Item Table template? They look the exact same, yet the reason I ask is, when we use the latter it will appear in the TOC when we have the TOC enabled, like on the patch page. Think this is a good idea? --Atarax 10:48, 12 March 2009 (CDT)
It isn't possible to include page sections within a transcluded template because trying to edit the section will transfer you to the template page rather than stay on the article page. However with the new style you created we don't need to include it in the wiki template for the table anyways and can just make the sections normally. Since each item has its own row in the table, adding | Alias = Name will let you specify the name to display if it needs to be different from the actual item's name. I'll have the changes up soon. --Tlosk 12:44, 12 March 2009 (CDT)
