New page

Re: Fandom staff intro and category suggestions
Hello,

I think I understand the reasoning behind what you are suggesting, but I'd prefer to leave the categories as is for now.

:Category:ACCWiki is the category for pages related to the wiki itself, with :Category:Asheron's Call being the root category for the content of the wiki. If :Category:Asheron's Call Community Wiki becomes the root category, the pages in ACCWiki will need a replacement category.

I have been considering an overhaul of the homepage for a while, and I will keep this suggestion in mind when I get around to working on that.

-----

I do have a request for you though. Can we get custom JS enabled here?

We have a wiki template, Calculate PXP, which resides on the Experience Points page. It used to function, using some code over on MediaWiki:Common.js. You can see how it is supposed to function on the fork of the ACCW project: http://acpedia.org/wiki/Experience_Points

My understanding is at some point custom JS was disabled by default, and has to be requested now. Is that correct? If so, is that something you can do?
-----

:Hey Bluerock

:Thanks for the help with the js, I see it is working now. I did not originally write it. Looks like it was done by Widgeon on February 24, 2009‎. We've been around for a while :)

:I've been thinking about the category change more. Rather than moving Category:ACCWiki to Category:Asheron's Call Community Wiki, and then recategorizing all the pages currently in Category:Asheron's Call and previously in Category:ACCWiki, it seems the simpler approach would be to move Category:Asheron's Call (the current root category) to Category:Asheron's Call Community Wiki (the new suggested root category) and move Category:ACCWiki to something else, likely Category:Wiki. And then open Category:Asheron's Call to be repurposed.

:I can handle making this change. I'm going to think about the specific name changes more, and see what else about the category tree may need some touch-up, before implementing it.

:thanks

:--An Adventurer (talk) 23:18, 15 January 2021 (UTC)

::I agree, that strategy makes the most sense. I do wonder, though, how does this improve SEO? If I am understanding this correctly, Category:Asheron's Call Community Wiki would contain no pages and just two sub-categories: Category:Asheron's Call and Category:ACCWiki (possibly to be renamed). I can envision a few other categories finding their way directly under Category:Asheron's Call Community Wiki, but not a substantial amount.

::And I do appreciate the offer to make the change, but I can handle this task. It seems fairly straight forward. Thanks! --An Adventurer (talk) 14:21, 16 January 2021 (UTC)

:::Just wanted to let you know I made the category changes. --An Adventurer (talk) 16:32, 18 January 2021 (UTC)

collapsible tables
Hey Bluerock, I have discovered another possible javascript error. I'm sure if this only started happening after the recent changes to MediaWiki:Common.js, but I only noticed the issue after that.

We have some style classes used on tables, collapsible and collapsed, that are supposed to make a table collapsible, and, if the collapsed class is present, make it collapsed on load.

You can see examples of these on :Category:A'nekshay, where both collapsible and collapsed are present, and :Category:Acid Elemental, where just collapsible is present. On the A'nekshay table, the show button to expand the table is present but not functional. On the Acid Elemental table, the hide' button to collapse the table is present but not functional.

Is this type of issue something you or Pcj would be able to assist with, or should I reach out to one of the other local sysops?

Thanks
