For the first time in thousands of years, the lost land of Knorr feels the tread of its former rulers. The Empyreans have returned to Auberean. They return to a world much changed.
 
Once, the Empyreans were the sole masters of this world. Now, the share their lost domain with the beings that their archmage, Asheron, introduced to Auberean.
 
As the Empyreans learned to find common cause with the Humans, Tumeroks, and Lugians, another unexpected ally arrives. An old foe from the Humans' earliest settlements emerged from the darkness.
 
No longer content to be pawns and slaves, the Drudges rebelled against the Burun. They established a town of their own, and celebrate their new-found freedom with a great festival of fire.
 
The Blazing Drudge festival, however, is not the only new light in the night sky. Nor are the Empyreans the only ones that have returned from a long exile…
