The name Dereth unites the familiar continents on which the story of Asheron's Call 2 takes place. Dereth was called "Ireth Lassel" by its original inhabitants, the [[AC2:Empyrean|Empyrean]]. [[AC2:Auberean|Auberean]] is the planet that Dereth is on. The planet Auberean is huge and has not been fully discovered.

Dereth is an isolated cluster of island continents formed by a volcanic mid-oceanic rift, found in the northern hemisphere of the [[AC2:Auberean|planet]], much like Iceland on Earth. <small>[http://ac.warcry.com/content/columns/the_menhir/the_world_we_live_on.php warcry]</small> In size, Dereth has been compared to the state of Rhode Island (U.S.). Its climate is primarily temperate with distinct spring, summer, fall, and winter seasons. The environments are extremely varied, ranging from sub-arctic tundra on portions of the [[AC2:Linvak|Linvak]] continent, to grass lands on [[AC2:Osteth|Osteth]], to tropical rain-forests on [[AC2:Omishan|Omishan]].

==Dereth in Asheron's Call 2==
The continent of Dereth and its associated archipelago were dramatically torn apart by the mysterious cataclysm that took place chronologically after Asheron's Call 1's setting and prior to the beginning of Asheron's Call 2. The cataclysm left numerous geological features such as the circular crater north of the Southern Prosper Outpost. The original continent of Dereth was torn into the three new continents: [[AC2:Osteth|Osteth]], [[AC2:Omishan|Omishan]], and [[AC2:Linvak|Linvak]], while the outlaying island Marae Lassel became [[AC2:Arramora|Arramora]]. Although changed, some historic features from the pre-cataclysm "Golden Age" survived, such as the [[AC2:Quest:Isle of Tears|Isle of Tears]] and towns such as [[AC2:Osteth/Cragstone|Cragstone]].
